    PREFACE TN submitting this Standard edition of our complete Catalogue to the Medical Profession and Hospital Author- ities, we beg to tender our sincere thanks for the hberal and increasing support received from all parts of the world during past years, and to assure them that it will be our strenuous endeavour to merit its continuance. The fact that the present edition is the fourteenth issued within twenty-seven years, exclusive of twenty-eight smaller Catalogues and numerous pamphlets and circulars, may be taken as a proof that we have used every effort to keep pace with the advances of modern Surgery. Our Catalogues have not escaped the penalty of their success. The statement is capable of proof that they have formed the basis of many rival publications issued during recent years. The present edition contains much original matter never before published ; care has been taken to include all accepted instruments, so as to allow full liberty of choice to the pur- chaser, but older models, generally condemned as obsolete, have been deleted. The Section referring to Aseptic Furniture is intended to give a general idea of our exclusive manufactures in that department, but we arc always ready to submit special designs and estimates when required, and to assist by Progress.
