    Among the largest collections may be mentioned those of Miss Rayner, Brighouse; Mrs. W. E. B. Priestley, Bradford; Mrs. Frederick North, New Brighton; Mrs. D. J. Crossley, Hebden Bridge; Mrs. G. D. Killey, Waterloo; Mrs. Pinnock, Aigburth, Liverpool. Miss Rayner obtained ^87 18s. 6d. from 276 contributors, and Mrs. W. E. B. Priestley, ^78 6s. 3d. from 71 contributors. The total number of lady collectors has been 500. The Cheshire Association still takes the lead among the single Associa¬ tions, having collected this year no less than ^451 2s. 7d. Its indefatigable Treasurer, Miss Barclay, always has the interests of the Asylum at heart. The gross totals show a decrease of ^132 3s. 8d. on last year’s amounts. The Manchester and Salford District Association is responsible for ^27 18s. 3d. of this; Bradford has sent ^79 18s. 7d. less, but last year’s collection included a donation of ^100 from Mrs. Alfred Illingworth; the Liverpool collection has diminished by pCi8 3s. 4d. ; the decrease in the Huddersfield collection has been £22 5s. nd. There have been other less decreases, but increases in Cheshire, Cumberland, and one or two other districts, are noted. Taking the entire totals into consideration, the net result is not unsatisfactory, as there have been many special appeals for charitable contributions. The sum of A812 ns. 6d. has been contributed towards Contributions u towards the maintenance of election patients by their relatives and Maintenance of friends. The contributions vary from is. to 4s. or 5s. per Patients, week, and, though the items are small, the total amount is considerable. The parents feel that something is being done for the support of their children, and communication with them is probably more frequent than, it would otherwise be. In times of sickness, loss of employment, or other special circumstances, these payments are suspended or remitted altogether. The thanks of the Central Committee are especially due to those Clergymen and Ministers who periodically make collections or offertories for the Institution. Reference has often been made to the fact that many of the candidates for free admission are introduced by the clergy, and it seems only right that they should be asked to promote financial assistance.
