Biographical note
This began in 1981 as an independent group, including representatives of a range of organisations, including the Royal College of Physicians, the BMA, the BTA and local and regional Thoracic Societies. After its formation in 1982 it became a sub-committee of the British Thoracic Society, although continued with a wider membership, including regional representatives. Its main function was to provide liaison with regional and district health authorities in matters concerning thracic medicine, particularly manpower. In 1989 it was merged with the Manpower Committee to form a Manpower and Resources Committee.
