Description
The sketch is an elaboration of a fictitious advertisement in a newspaper of a sale of the effects of Lord Melbourne. Melbourne spent a great deal of time as the guest of Queen Victoria and stayed regularly at Windsor. It was frequently remarked, consequently, that his own home must be in a desolate state
