Description

Petasites hybribus (Butterbur) Shows group of thick stemmed low growing plants; large leaves and thick, pink spikes. Its leaves, like those of Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) has been used as a specific remedy for cough. Used in homeopathy to heal ulcers and suppurating wounds. The fleshy petioles have been eaten like a vegetable. The huge leaves were once used by peasants as a head covering.
