About this work

Description

Thomas Williams and John Bishop were convicted and hanged in 1831 for stealing bodies for sale to anatomy schools and for murder for the same purpose. May was their accomplice. All three are depicted with the physiognomies attributed at the time to mental defectiveness and/or criminality
