Lettering

La Sainte famille. Peint par Rembrandt en 1640. Gravé à l'eau-forte par Martini. Terminé au burin par Le Bas en 1772.

Lettering note

Said to be one of the prints in which the engraver Le Bas named himself as a member of the "Académie de Peinture, Sculpture et Gravure", in which "Gravure" was unofficial and contested (Print quarterly, 2008, 25: 286), though this form of signature is absent from the trimmed impression catalogued
