In forwarding it to them, I beg them to accept my sincere gratitude for their generous confidence and support during my professional career, and my sincere and hearty well wishes for their future welfare, whether they have retired from the arduous labours of the profession, or still discharge its humane and honorable duties. There were some who, in my early struggles, supported me by their strength and guided me by their wisdom, whose eyes have been closed for ever.
