Lettering on verso of first flyleaf states that the album belonged to Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks (and by implication was compiled by Franks), and subsequently passed to G.F. Lawrence (George Fabian Lawrence, 1861-1939, a dealer in antiquities who rescued items unearthed in excavations in the City of London and secured them for the London Museum, subsequently the Museum of London)
