This recording is of interviews with former colleagues and pupils of pioneering cardiologist, Sir Thomas Lewis. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Arthur Hollman in preparation for his biography on Lewis: 'Sir Thomas Lewis: pioneer cardiologist and clinical scientist', London; New York: Springer, c1996. Mr. Reginald Charles Channel is interviewed 22 November 1977. He speaks in depth about the early days of electrocardiography and describes in detail how the earliest machines worked.

This tape is part of a collection donated to Wellcome Trust by Dr. Arthur Hollman in 2007. The tapes contain oral history interviews conducted by Dr Hollman between 1974 and 1990 with a grant from the Wellcome Trust. The interviews are largely with former colleagues and pupils of Sir Thomas Lewis and two are with Lady Lewis. They provide an invaluable source of first-hand information about Lewis and the medical world during his time, with personal recollections going back as far as 1920.
