Lettering

Ravana was the King of Lanka and archenemy of Rama. He disguised himself as a religious mendicant and abducted Sita (Rama's wife), while Rama and his brother Laksmana were hunting

Notes

Part of a collection in an album of Company drawings ranging in subject-matter from social scenes, trades, religious scenes and deities, gardens, sports and portraits. All drawn in watercolour, some with pencil and oxidised gold, some similar to the Kalighat style
