Upon removing the loose grating or perforated, plate b, b, the whole trap may be taken out and cleaned.. Figure 3 is a vertical section* and Figure 4 a plan view of a modification of the above, wherein the fast grate d, d, and' suspending red frfi are dis- 5» pensed with, the cup e, e, being supported by arms/*,/*. Figures 5 and 6 are similar views of a further modification of my Invention, adapted for street, stable, yard, and other purposes, the chief alteration being the addition of a loose sludge box g, g, which can be removed and cleaned without untrapping the pipe, by merely raising the loose grate b, by and Id lifting the box out by means of the handle hf h. Having now described the nature and object of my said Invention for “An Improved Stench Trap and Sink Pipe Protector,” together with the manner in which the same is to be or may be performed or carried into practical effect, I would remark, in conclusion, that I claim as my Invention the 15 improved stench trap and sink pipe protector, as shewn in the Drawings « annexed and herein-before described, or any mere modification or imitation thereof; and especially I claim the combination of the trumpet-shaped tube c, c, with the inverted bell or cup ef e, in the manner and for the purpose herein set forth. 2d In witness whereof, I, the said William Henry Gummer, have hereunto set my hand and seal, this Twenty-first day of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
