Hospitals have been deemed a necessary pait of the 0£^0Spital istitutions of all civilized societies; when the poorer establish- asses of the community are affli&ed by disease or accidental ment3' jury, their poverty thus increased by the interruption of leir daily labour, precludes them from obtaining those omforts or assistance necessary to alleviate or remove their ifferings. Medical or surgical aid, attention of nurse-tenders, nie- icine, suitable diet with fresh air and changes of clothing, re necessaries to the sick which the poor cannot obtain ut in hospitals.
