Expression of lac2 gene in sciatic nerve

A single teased myelinated nerve fibre from the sciatic nerve of a transgenic mouse expressing the E.coli lac2 gene under the control of the promoter of the periaxin gene. The expressed beta-galactosidase carries a nuclear targetting ligand.
