Description

Black and white photograph of a mounted Cinchona officinalis plant specimen. The herbarium specimen is stamped with "Ex. Herb W. G. McIvor" and "Ootacamund, Madras". The specimen is described as "Cinchona officinalis : strong-growing variety, cultivated Nilgiris, 1877" in Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The Flückiger herbarium sheet was lent by the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne and is listed as exhibit no. 202 in the souvenir catalogue.
