About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of the tongue of a child, aged three and a half years, showing a small recurrent papillary growth. The tumour was first noticed when the child was three months old. It was removed at 11 months, and immediately grew again. It was removed a second time a year after the first operation, and again recurred. Preparatory pencil sketch of SBHB MU/14/12/43/2 on the reverse.
