    INFANT CONSULTATION CENTRE. There was a small increase in the number pf attendances at this Centre in Marylebone—4,008, as compared with 3,964 in 1930, the average per session being 40, as compared with 37 in the previous year. Miss Margaret Thackrah, M.D., who had been Medical Officer in Charge of the Infant Consultation Centre since its inception, resigned during the year, and the Committee desire to express their great appreciation of her valuable work in this Department for over 15 years. THE MIDWIFERY TRAINING SCHOOL. As will be seen from the Report on page 16, there was a gratifying increase in the number of entries of Medical Students^ and Qualified Practitioners, and of Midwives and Nurses. PRIVATE NURSING STAFF. That the excellence of the training given to the Nurses is appreciated by the public is shown by the fact that during the past year their services were engaged on 385 occasions. DRESDEN ASSISTANCE FUND. By means of this Fund for assisting patients on leaving the Hospital, 183 mothers with their infants were sent to Convalescent Homes. Many other patients were helped by gifts of clothing, meat, milk, eggs, bread, coal, etc. Whenever necessary, dental treatment was provided. In some cases surgical appliances were supplied. SAMARITAN FUND. The income of this Fund for the assistance of patients attended in their own homes is so small—last year it was £75 only—that it is, unfortunately, only possible to help a very few of the more necessitous patients. Nine mothers and their babies were sent to Convalescent Homes, and the most needy were helped with gifts of food and clothing. The patients attended at home generally have larger families and often are in poorer circumstances than those who come into the Hospital, and their need of help is at times very great. Additional contributions to the Samaritan Fund are urgently required, and would, therefore, be most welcome.
