About this work

Description

Dr. Mark Porter investigates the realm of blood transfusions. Every year around 2.5 million units of blood are donated by volunteers. In this programme we follow the journey of the donated blood as it passes from volunteer to patient and we hear about the role the National Blood Service plays as it strives to meet the demands of the NHS. We also hear about what kinds of patients will receive the blood and the difference it will make to their lives.
