    In the treatise on pathology and treatment which accompanies the plates I have confined myself to essen- tials—above all, to a detailed description of raethods of examination, which I deemed most important to students and practising physicians. For this reason less space has been devoted to operative technique and more to the pathology and to non-operative treatment. I wish to express my sincere appreciation of the pub- lisher’s efforts to bring the atlas up to the Standard of the excellent series of which it forms a part. O. HAAB.
