Biographical note
Wendy Savage was born in 1935 and educated at Croydon High School for Girls; Girton College, Cambridge; and London Hospital Medical College. She was Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Royal Free Hospital, 1969-1971; Lecturer, London Hospital, 1976-1977; and Consultant and Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, St Bartholomew's and the Royal London school of Medicine and Dentistry, (formerly London Hospital Medical College), 1977.
She was suspended from post by Tower Hamlets Health Authority from 1985-1986, for alleged malpractice, and was the subject of a public inquiry to scrutinise her professional competency. She was exonerated and reinstated in 1986.
She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1985; member of the General Medical Council, 1989-; and, Honorary Visiting Professor, Middlesex University, from 1991
