Right-hand side of plate: Photograph of a half tone print of Rudolf Virchow (1821-1902), pathologist, after a photograph by E. Bieber, after a painting by Franz Lenbach, with caption underneath. This reproduction was made from Müller, Franz Carl, Geschichte der organischen Naturwissenschaften im neunzehnten Jahrhundert, Berlin: G. Bondi, 1902.
