Description

Light micrograph of the early chick embryo that has been stained with Sudan red to show the early development of the neural tube and somites. This image shows a close up region of the anterior end of the embryo, at this stage the cranial neural pore and neural tube (seen in red running down the length of the embryo) is still open. This embryo has been incubated for around 28 hours or HH9 as classified by the Hamburger and Hamilton stage of chick development.
