Description
Cerebral malaria: histopathology
This is a high power view of a section of brain from a patient with cerebral malaria which shows ring haemorrhages. A proportion of the blood cells that have extravasated (passed out of the vessels) contain malaria pigment. In the centre, the vessel is inconspicuous and the myelin is necrotic. H&E stain.
