About this work

Description

The tooth-drawer has a wooden stage at a fair(?) upon which he performs his operations. A large picture advertising his trade is at the centre of stand, a table containing a medical chest, inscribed "Fama volat" (fame flies). An assortment of unusual bottles and various sealed testimonials are also on the stand. A mischievous monkey wearing the tooth-drawer's hat sits on the stage
