1 volume 32 ll. (first & last bl.). obl. 8vo. 15 1/2 × 20 cm. Unbound. Lower corner of the first leaf torn away, some margins and corners damaged. Written on rectos only: calligraphic pen-drawn initials and texts, illustrating various styles of writing, alphabets, etc.

Purchased at Sotheby's (Frere Sale) 3/13/1907, Lot 343.

Biographical note

The author in the preface describes himself as 'of Waybread in Suffolk, student in Anatomy, Astrology and Herbarism, practitioner in Physicke and Chyrurgery, Licensed'.

Ownership note

Probably from Sir John Fenn's [1739-1794] library, and later belonging to Arthur Howard Frere [1860-1931].
