About this work

Description

Papers concerning British Patent Patent No. 548231 ("Improved Process and Apparatus for the Production of Dispersible Sulphur").

The file comprises sealed Letters Patent (3 May, 1941), printed specification, and related correspondence until 1954 when the Patent was allowed to lapse. A letter from 1966 records subsequent interest by the Niagara Chemical Works, New York: "During the time we were using the process we produced a large tonnage of the sulphur paste, and it was a change of commercial circumstances, and not any failure of the process, which eventually caused us to give it up" (H E Harbour to Dr R L Gates, Niagara Chemical Works, 13 January, 1966).
