About this work

Description

Gross pathology of the liver and spleen This image shows the abdomen of a child with falciparum malaria, opened at autopsy. The liver and spleen are enlarged and congested. The dark pigmentation of both organs is due to the deposition of malaria pigment (haemozoin).
