A hybrid reported by Montagu died 2 days after birth. One reported by Zuckerman was killed when 6 months old on account of deformities resulting from post-natal injuries. A hybrid born at Cin¬ cinnati Zoo was well cared for by the mother. It had a black head and a black dorsal stripe from head to tail. Otherwise it resembled the mandrill in colour.
