Description
Left to right, Sheridan, Priestley (standing), Sir Cecil Wray, Charles James Fox, John Horne Tooke, and the Unitarian minister Theophilus Lindsey. On the right, a group of Dissenters. Modelled on a dinner (at which none of the above was present) held by the Constitutional Society of Birmingham on 14 July 1791, the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in 1789. Following the guests' departure, a mob attacked the building and attacked Priestley's house, burning his books and papers
