About this work

Description

Fruit Fly Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) Drosophila are an extremely useful model organism this is due to their relatively simple genome, the low cost and fast growth of them and the fact that they are easy to maintain. They are used for biomedical research in a variety of fields. The flies are especially attracted to ripened fruits and vegetables in the kitchen. But they also will breed in drains, garbage disposals, empty bottles and cans, trash containers, mops and cleaning rags. All that is needed for development is a moist film of fermenting material.
