    Mr. JACQUIN wrote thefe Elements with a view to convey to the young ftudent a knowledge of the moft important truths in chemiftry. The work, on its publication, met with a very favorable reception, and a copy of it having fallen into my hands, and being pleafed with the accuracy and fimplicity by which it is fo eminently diftinguiflied, I thought it might be beneficial to the public to tranflate it into Englilh.
