About this work

Philadelphia : Printed for the author by William Fry, 1820.

Physical description

35 pages, 1 unnumbered page ; 22 cm

Notes

Originally presented as the author's thesis (M.D.--University of Pennsylvania, 1820). A portion of the thesis (p. 25-27) was removed before its acceptance because of the author's "denunciation against nosology." Objection to the omitted matter, which eulogized the views of Dr. Benjamin Rush, was raised presumably by Dr. Nathaniel Chapman, professor of the theory and practice of medicine 1816-1850. Cf. Pref. and Carson, Joseph. A hist. of the Med. Dept. of the Univ. of Penn., 1869, p. 174
Dedicated "to the memory of the late Dr. Rush": p. [3]
