Description
Norwich and Norfolk Bank credit note for £8.s13.d6, signed by Samuel Woodward, 3 Dec 1825 (Woodward was a clerk at Gurney's bank, later Barclay's, at Norwich); letter from Woodward to William Stevenson Filch of Ipswich, concerning obtaining some specimens of local Saxon coins for Miss Gurney, 2 Apr 1832 (this letter pasted into a separate sheet on the front of which is written biographical details of Samual Woodward 1790-1838); note from Woodward to Simon Wilkins, asking him to return a volume by Sir Thomas Brown to him, and stating that he is now at home an invalid, undated (written on the back of a printed page 'List of species wanted to complete the series of British birds, according to Selby's arrangement').

Biographical note
Geologist, archaeologist and antiquary. Largely self-educated. Author of A Synoptical Table of British Organic Remains 1830, the first work of its kind in Britain, Outline of the Geology of Norfolk 1833, and The History and Antiquities of Norwich Castle. He amassed a huge collection of fossils which after his death was purchased by Norwich Museum.
