About this work

Description

'A medical guide and pharmacopoeia written expressly for the use of Saint Mary's Princethorpe.' A practical compendium of dietary and medical advice compiled by Powell Charles Blackett for the Benedictine convent at Princethorpe, Warks, known as St. Mary's Priory, founded by French nuns from Montargis. The compilation is dedicated to Sister Hilda, apothecary at Princethorpe, and the volume includes (f. 1v.) a covering letter from Blackett to Mme de Chastelet, [the Mother Superior], dated 6 Nov. 1839.
