    ANNUAL EEPOET OF THE iSANITAEY INSPECTOE For tiie Year 1906. To the Mayor and Town Council the Urban Sanitary Authority for the Borough of Newport, I.W. Gentlemen, I beg to submit for your approval my Twelfth Annual Report of the work executed under your Authority for the year ended December 31, 1906. NOTIFIABLE DISEASE. Sixteen cases were notified. The sanitary condition of the premises, also the drainage, was examined, and where found necessary the responsible persons were called on to remedy defects. Disinfectants were supplied free, and the rooms disinfected as soon as the health of the patients permitted. Formalin was the disinfectant used. In addition to the rooms occupied by notified cases, at the request of medical men, I disinfected a number of rooms where cases of Consumption, Cancer, and other non-notifiable diseases had been treated. As your Authority do not possess an Isolation Hospital, I am frequently compelled to disinfect several rooms in one house, as in small dwellings the isolation of a patient in one room is almost an impossibility, and it therefore becomes necessary to disinfect all the rooms which have been used by the persons affected. Altogether 37 rooms have been disinfected. MILKSHOPS AND DAIRIES. The number of persons registered under the Milkshops and Dairies Act of 1885 as dairymen and purveyors of milk is 12 dairymen and 6 purveyors—being no change from last year’s total.
