About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing of a fracture of a tibia, five weeks after the accident. Plates of new bone are formed in and beneath the periosteum, adjacent to the line of fracture, and in the new tissue in the angles between the fragments. Drawn by Horace Benge Dobell, physician, whilst a student at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School.
