Description

Reproduction from an unidentified publication of a photograph showing a practice of the Dyak people of Borneo to transfer suffering from people to inanimate objects. The practitioner places a wooden doll upon the patient's abdomen. It is a ganti-diu or substitute and the practitioner works magic to drive the patient's sickness into the doll - a process which may take a few days. Related images: M0002723, M0005855
