About this work

Description

"The dancing barber", the subject of the present print, was a one-act farce by Charles Selby performed at the Adelphi Theatre in London in 1838-1839 (The torch, 13 January 1838, p. 168). Fitzfrolic, amused by the barber Fitzfrizzle who is an amateur dancer, invites him to gatecrash a ball that he is going to. At the ball, the barber is mistaken for Fitzfrolic, owing to their similar surnames
