Description

Cropped and enlarged section of a reproduction of a facsimile of page 24 from the book Linne, Carl von: Materia Medica 1749, volume 1. The exhibition catalogue decribes the exhibit as an "Interleaved copy annotated in the author's own handwriting. Facsimile of page 24, No. 71. "Cinchona. Quinquina. Condam. Act. Paris, 1738," etc., together with the manuscript notes on the leaf facing page 14". The page was possibly reproduced as part of the facsimiles lent by The Linnean Society of London and exhibited in Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930 hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The facsimile is listed as exhibit no. 880 in the souvenir catalogue, and is not held by Wellcome Collection. Related images: M0001434, M0001435, M0001436
