About this work

Description

Dilisk is a risograph publication with a narrative focus on distilling a specific moment in time. It focuses around memories of disability care for a disabled parent, focusing specifically on an intimate moment that lasted no longer than a few minutes. It is playing on Perrec's idea of the exhaustion of a place - how the brain has a capacity to completely exhaust a moment mentally, years on, and recall all of the sensations and sensory details as if it happened moments ago - which you never consciously noticed at the time, but stored as information subconsciously. Each panel is drawn from memory, 2 years on. This is an important factor for me as a method of catharsis and processing this period of time, as often when you've been in a position of care for a loved one, it is the small and unnoticed moments at the time which become intrusive memories further down the line."-- From zinester's Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1201254939/dilisk-a6-risograph-printed-zine
