    The late Miss Margaret Eobson bequeathed a Legacy of One hundred Pounds to the Asylum, free of Legacy duty, which was paid at Whitsunday last. As will be seen from the Treasurer’s Eeport, the Asylum is now in a better position financially. The Directors have made arrangements with the Union Bank by which the Interest on Thirty Thousand Pounds of the Loan from the Bank has been restricted to Three and one-half per cent., the Interest on the balance continuing to be four and one-half per cent, as formerly. This reduction is to continue so long as the Directors pay Two Thousand Pounds per annum to the Bank from the ordinary revenue of the Asylum, which they have done this year, and trust* to be able to continue. From the Treasurer’s Eeport it will be observed that the Income of the Institution from the Board of Patients during the past year has been - £10,753 15 4 and the Expenditure - - -11,56712 8 shewing a Deficit on the House of - - £813 17 4 Deduct Profit on the Dairy - £314 15 6 Do. on Farm & Garden 94 2 1 Do. on Old Asylum - 17 18 9 - 426 16 4 Net Deficiencv on Year - £387 1 0 i/ Since last Meeting the Commissioners in Lunacy have twice visited the Asylum, and they report very favourably on the condition of the Institution. Sir Arthur Mitchell, in his Eeport of 28th March last, states :—■“ The Asylum has now a Waggonette, and the Patients have regular drives into the country. This is recorded with satisfaction, as it will tend to increase the number of Private Patients.
