Description

A series of interviews with Governors of the Wellcome Trust, and contributors to Wellcome history. Sir David Steel, Chairman of the Wellcome Trust from 1982 to 1989. Sir Roger Gibbs, became a Wellcome Trustee, in 1983, and succeeded Sir David as Chairman in 1989. Dr Peter Williams was Director of the Trust during the period under discussion. The discussion explores the factors that led up to the sale of shares in the Wellcome Foundation Ltd. in 1986. Sir Roger Gibbs, then descibes the second sale in 1992, and the final takeover of the Wellcome PLC by Glaxo in 1995.
