Under the Maternity and Child Welfare Act, 1918, milk was supplied free or lielow cost to 310 mothers and children during the year, the average number receiving milk in this way on any one day being 88. The expenditure during the year amounted to £590, as compared with £671 during 1920 and £291 during 1919. A (Government grant of 50 per cent, is received in relief of this expenditure. 5. Ophthalmia Neonatorum. During the year D cases of this condition w^ere notified. Of these 2 w^ere admitted into the General Hospital and 1 into a Nursing Home. Every case wms kept under observation and the fact verified that no infant suf- fered any permanent injury to the eyes as the result (f this inflammation. The notifications to the Medical Officer of Health of Ophthalmia or threatened Ophthalmia have been made wdthout delay, and prompt measures have been taken in each case. Infant Care Table I.
