About this work

Description

The second in a three-part series, presented by Kathy Sykes, looking at the effectiveness of various ancient remedies. This part focuses on healing. Sykes attends a rally at Norwich Football Stadium by Benny Hinn, a US healer. GP Dr. Michael Dixon was a sceptic of healing techniques but decided to trial healing in his own surgery, the results showed an improvement in 70% of his patients and he now has two volunteer healers permanently in his surgery. We meet healers Theresa Seward and Ruth Kaye who describe how they work. In the UK, Jennifer Clennand hired an actor to copy the words and actions of a real healer in a trial to see if sham healing could be as good as the real thing - the results showed that both were equally effective. In the US a trial took place in which patients who underwent a fake knee operation recovered as well as those who had the real procedure. Does this mean we all have the capability to self-heal which is triggered or manipulated by healers?
