About this work

Description

Made entirely from silver, this pipe can be dismantled into four pieces to fit inside the wooden box. Originally from China, the pipe may well have been acquired by a traveller visiting the area. The records suggest that the pipe was checked by an assay office in Birmingham to gauge the quality of the metal. maker: T, I Place made: China
