The illumination of the invisible: a century of x-culture.

Documentary tracing the history of X-rays across science and popular culture. From the discovery of X-rays in 1895 we see how the world reacted to radiology, from X-ray booths at fairs and the testing of occultists to providing essential assistance in First World War field hospitals. Archive film is used to illustrate the public conception of radiology in often humorous ways, as well as the effects of radiation on early practionners. Present day medical scanners are contrasted with radiography used in restoring and uncovering paintings at the Louvre laboratory.
