Description

The lake is near Naples. The Grotta del Cane is on the right: noxious gases emitted from it were used in demonstrations to tourists of an experiment whereby the gases caused asphyxiation of a dog. A man is shown carrying a dead or unconscious dog away from the grotto, while three gentlemen inspect the site of the experiment
