![is conducted, the lives of thousands have been saved; and in arresting the influence of contagious disorders, its benefits are in- calculable : sinee its foundation, in 1828, to the present time, upwards of two hundred thousand persons have been successfully treated, and restored from the most loath- some maladies to health and comfort. Up- wards of three hundred patients suffering from the second stage of Cholera were ad- mitted into the Hospital: at first, nearly every one died, although every plan of treatment that could be recommended was adopted; and it was only in despair that a mode of treatment, suggested by Dr. Ste- vens, was tried.
