About this work

Description

Pill boxes were used to carry pills around in a pocket or in a case while travelling. Some boxes are elaborately ornate, but this example represents the simplest design and materials. The cheap materials meant they could be mass produced and they would have been familiar to those in society able to afford such medical treatment. They were often marked with the name and address of the pharmacy that dispensed them.
