    15G PREVENTIVE LOTIONS AND OINTMENTS. Epilation, if done at all, must be resorted to over and over again, as long as any diseased hairs appear. Preventive Lotions and Ointments. When boracic acid lotion, oleates, ointments, &c., are used, if there are only a few patches, and the hair has not been entirely removed, it is of the utmost importance to rub the lotion or oint- ment into the roots of the hairs all over the head, once a day during the first few weeks of the treat- ment, to insure the destruction of any conidia that may be about. If this is not done, the disease may spread, or more likely still, minute places just commencing, which have been overlooked at the first examination, will develop; but if a para- siticide is used all over the head, this will be pre- vented, and the patches of incipient disease will soon be cured. If strong remedies be used to the patches, some preventive must be used all over the head, if we wish to stop the disease from spreading.
